Covid-19 : Total infections rise to 2820 in Morocco

A total of 135 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) have been confirmed in Morocco until Sunday at 10:00 a.m., bringing the total number of contamination cases to 2,820, the ministry of Health announced.

The number of cured cases amounts to 322 with eight new recoveries, while the number of deaths has reached 138, said the ministry.

 In addition, the number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results is 11,369, according to the same source.

The increase of COVID-19 cases in Morocco compelled the government to extend the state of emergency for another month.

Initially, the government imposed a lockdown from March 20, effective until April 20.However, a government council convened on April 18 to extend the state of emergency to May 20.

The government explained that the same measures of the initial lockdown period should be respected.


 The ministry urges citizens to respect the rules of hygiene and health safety, as well as the preventive measures taken by the Moroccan authorities, and to show responsibility and patriotism.
