The first flight to evacuate Moroccans from Sudan arrived to Casablanca Airport on Sunday, February 27, 2023. The flight, which was operated by Royal Air Maroc, carried 250 Moroccans who had been stranded in Sudan due to the ongoing political crisis in the country.
The Moroccan government had announced on February 25 that it would be evacuating its citizens from Sudan. The decision was made following the outbreak of violence in the country, which has led to the deaths of hundreds of people and the displacement of thousands more.
The evacuation flights are expected to continue until all Moroccans who wish to leave Sudan have been able to do so. The Moroccan government has also said that it will provide financial assistance to those who have been affected by the crisis.
