South Korea announced on Wednesday that it has reported the first Monkeypox case in the country, said an official of the Korea Disease control and prevention agency (CDC) in a news conference.
The case was identified in a South Korean national who arrived from Germany on Tuesday, and was confirmed to have contracted the viral disease, added the same source.
South Korea becomes the first Eastern Asian country to detect Monkeypox, said Medical express.
Overall, the World Health Organisation's (WHO) latest monkeypox update shows that from January to June 15, 2022, 42 countries across five regions have reported a cumulative total of 2,103 confirmed cases with over 80% recorded in non-endemic countries.
