Renault Group Morocco inaugurates a high performance stamping press at the Tangier plant

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, presided this Friday on the inauguration of the "Press XL High Speed" in Tangier, a new stamping line of high technological precision of the Renault plant.

The first of its kind in Africa, Mezzour said that "the Moroccan automotive sector is entering a new era in its history, marked by the rise of skills, technology, and decarbonization."

The integration rate of the automotive industry in Morocco has been set at 63% in 2021, with the aim of reaching 80%. The government aims to transform the Kingdom into the most competitive automotive industry platform in the world.

The partnership between Morocco and French manufacturer Renault resulted in major projects that have managed to defy the constraints of the health crisis and the scarcity and instability of electronic components.

Mezzour welcomed the achievements made by the Renault plant in Tangier, calling it "a symbol of a very strong and close relationship between Morocco and France, and a win-win partnership."

With its exceptional performance and compatibility with steel and aluminum, this new tool will be used to manufacture stamping parts, such as body sides or doors, for the Dacia Sandero and Lodgy, and Renault Express models manufactured at the group's two plants in Morocco, Tangiers, and Casablanca.

ThePress XL High Speed will also manufacture parts intended for export, contributing to the integration objectives and turnover of locally sourced parts.
