Casablanca stock exchange records a week in the red

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the period from December 20 to 24 in the red, with its main index, Masi, down by 0.46% to 13,242.43 points.

The Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20), made up of the 20 most liquid companies, dropped by 0.69% to 1,076.62 points, and the Madex, a compact index made up of stocks, dropped by 0.73% to 10,697.21 points.

The Casablanca ESG 10, the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) benchmark index, dropped by 0.99% to 986.37 points.

On the sector level, 10 indexes were down, while 12 others were up, and the "Electricity" index showed no change.

In terms of sector, the "Forestry and Paper" index recorded the largest drop for the week (-15.69%), ahead of the "Engineering and Industrial Equipment" sector (-4.32%), and "Leisure and Hotels" (-2.60%).

On the upside, "Oil and Gas" sector recorded the largest increase in terms of gains (+ 4.17%), ahead of "Transport" (+ 3.08%), "Chemicals" (+1.89 %), and "Real estate participation and promotion" (+ 1.78%).

For this week, the best weekly performances were achieved by Delattre Levivier Maroc (+ 10.71%), ahead of Dari Couspate (+ 8%), Afriquia Gaz (+ 7.63%), Colorado (+ 5.91%) ), and Ib Maroc.com (+ 4.37%).

In contrast, the largest decreases were recorded by Med Paper (-15.69%), followed by Stroc Industrie (-14.32%), M2M Group (-8.06%), Stokvis Nord Afrique (-7.58%), and Jet Contractors (-4.49%).

The total volume of trade for the period reached over MAD 1.71 billion, including MAD1.24 billion, made on the central market in the form of shares, and MAD445.58 million made on the block market.

The market capitalization amounted to over MAD 685.63 billion.
